Vocal Mountain Range
Our Natural Voice has a range, and like mountains, it has peaks and valleys and places that we love be be at.
It’s definitely a metaphor that can assist us in accessing our vocal range.
When we are in good vocal shape, their is endurance to clamber up the mountain, deep breathing, voicing, and intent to get up the mountain.
The top of the mountain can represent a high note, or a greater vocal range earned from practicing your art.
When you learn to sing with your whole body, your breathing is deeper and your voice reaches its natural potential.
Create a Mountain Song
Fun exercise: When you see a mountain, trace it with your eyes and finger and start at it’s low point. Next, take a deep breath from your diagram and sing a low tone, as you ascend sing higher tones and when you descend sing lower tones. Sing the whole range. Repeat several times and hear the song you have created!
PS-and it’s a great excuse to get out in the mountains!
